Choosing a partner
I had an amazing conversation at dinner with a friend the other night. He was saying that his new relationship is fraught with various difficulties - but he isn’t worried about them because he knows that he and his new partner have the capacity to work through any challenge they will face.
Isn’t that an amazing way of choosing a partner?
So often we choose someone on the basis of minimising difficulty. We look for someone with the right background, at the right time, of the right age, without too much ‘baggage’ or ‘drama’. If we hit a bump in the road too early on, we tend to cut and run.
Far better to recognise that, whatever you do, there will always be bumps in the road. Pick someone who you trust to ride them out with you.
